India’s devastating left-handed batsman Shikhar Dhawan was ruled out of the rest of the matches in the World Cup after failing to make enough recovery from his thumb fracture incident. Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who was called to join the squad earlier, would replace him.
It is noted that Dhawan got injured on June 9 match playing against Australia in London. He was initially ruled out of the next four games — against New Zealand, Pakistan and Afghanistan and the West Indies to be played in the month of June. He could return to the playing eleven after the fitness test reported to be happened during the first week of July.
Now the medical team noticed that the recovery time will possibly extend to one more month, which is not letting him to be in the chair anymore. Thus, the management decided to replace him with the aggressive young cricketer Pant.
