India’s largest car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki announced to shut production from its two major facilities Gurugram and Manesar in Haryana on September 7 and 9, a reflection of global slowdown of the automobile industry.
Maruti Suzuki curtailed its output by about 34% in August 2019. The firm has been continuing the production reduction trend for seven consecutive months. It produced 1,11,370 unit cars in August as compared to 1,68,725 units in the same month of the previous year.
The auto major produced 1,10,214 units of passenger vehicles in the month comparing 1,66,161 units in the year-ago period. Also the output of its light commercial vehicle segment down to 1,156 units from 2,564 units during the time.
