India Pays Tribute to Freedom Fighter Bhagat Singh


Sept. 28/2019 – The people of India including top leaders Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vice President Venkaiah Naidu paid tributes to one of its beloved freedom fighters Bhagat Singh on his 112th birth anniversary. 

On his twitter handle, Naidu paid tributes to Bhagat Singh by writing “The protection of unity and integrity of the nation will be the true homage to him.” And Modi tweeted “His courageous actions continue to motivate millions. He remains among the most popular icons in the minds of the youth. I bow to this great son of Mother India on his Jayanti.” 

Home Minister Amit Shah said that Bhagat Singh was the inspiration to many for fighting for freedom. He was the role model for courage, ideals and patriotism. 

Bhagat Singh was born on this day in the year of 1907 in the Punjab Province of British India. He was convicted for killing British police officer John Saunders and was so hanged in March 1931.
