Shooting Down Mi-17 Chopper on Feb 27 A ‘Big Mistake’: IAF Chief

Oct. 04/2019 – Indian Air Force Chief Rakesh Kumar Singh Bhadauria confessed the erroneous act committed by own officers to shoot down Mi-17 helicopter in Kashmir on February 27 this year, news agency PTI reported. 

At the IAF’s annual press conference, Bhadauria described Indian and Pakistani forces were engaged in a dogfight after the Balakot strike made by IAF in response to the heinous terrorist attack sponsored by Pakistan in Pulwama. 

It is worth mentioned that the IAF fired a surface-to-air missile to the Mi-17 aircraft Budgam in the Kashmir Valley, causing death of as many as six IAF personnel present in the copter and a civilian on the ground. 

Talking on the matter, he stated that disciplinary action is being taken against officers held responsible for the incident as the Court of Inquiry ordered into the incident has completed its probe.
