Nov. 04/11 – Ahead of the final verdict of the Ayodhya dispute, the Uttar Pradesh Government issued notice to not to post any derogatory remarks on famous personalities or deities on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with immediate effect till December 28 in Ayodhya district.
The notice also debarred electronic media from conducting debates during this period. The person violating the rule could be booked under Section 188 of the IPC (disobedience to an order by public servant), the notice read.
In his order, Ayodhya district magistrate Anuj Kumar Jha said, “No attempt should be allowed to make any insulting remarks on great personalities, deities and gods on any social media platform such as Instagram, Twitter and Whatsapp. Besides, no installation of any idol of any deity will take place without permission from the district administration.”
