Nov. 15/11 – Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, accused President Donald Trump of committing impeachable offence by engaging himself with the Ukrainian bribery scandal.
Just a day after the first public hearing in the impeachment inquiry, Pelosi at a news conference said, “The bribe is to grant or withhold military assistance in return for a public statement of a fake investigation into the elections. That’s bribery.”
She stated that Trump had already admitted to the bribery and argued to be perfect, which is not only wrong but an impeachable offence according to the US constitution.
Democrats are looking into whether the president exercised his power unethically by withholding $391 million assistance to Ukraine in order to put pressure on Kiev to conduct investigations, which would help him get political gains. The fund, approved by Congress to help a US ally take on separatists supported by Russia in the eastern part of the country, had been given to Ukraine.
