SA Bobde Takes Oath as CJI


Nov. 18/11 – SA Bobde took oath as the new Chief Justice of India (CJI) following the retirement of Ranjan Gogoi from the position. President Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath Today morning. 

Bobde becomes the 47th CJI who is well known for his unique acumen and modern lifestyle. The man is fond of discussing artificial intelligence, social media and new-age technologies. 

Justice Bobde said he is committed to addressing the challenges posing before the judiciary and he would try to bring in a mechanism to lay down a system for all times to come. 

He was appointed as a judge in the Supreme Court from January 2018. He has witnessed the controversial moments like sexual harassment charges against his predecessor Gogoi and a joint press conference by four of his colleagues against some moves by then CJI Deepak Mishra.

He had headed the probe against Gogoi and finally given clean chit to him. He was also a part of the five member bench that gave the final verdict on Ayodhya land dispute case.
