Nov. 23/11 – Surprisingly, Devendra Gangadharrao Fadnavis, leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), took oath as the chief minister of Maharashtra with the support of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) today morning. NCP’s Ajit Pawar, nephew of party chief Sharad Pawar, also became the deputy CM of the state.
The quote ‘everything is possible in politics’ comes true as BJP could form the government in the state breaking the possible tripartite alliance between NCP, Congress and Shiv Sena. Today the very details of the alliance would have been declared officially.
Fadnavis submitted the support letter of MLAs before Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari who then administered the oath taking ceremony. On the other side Sharad Pawar refuted the allegations of betrayal labelled on him. He maintained that he was ignorant of Ajit’s decision.
With it, the weeks long demand of Uddhav Thakrey to lead the Maharashtra government comes to an end. Again Amit Shah proved his government forming skill. Political pandits were expecting a big game ahead since all the top level BJP brass remained silent on the forthcoming move.
