Feb. 26/20 – Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has been elected as the president of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) for the eight times in a row. The state council meeting was organized at the party headquarters in Bhubaneswar wherein 80 council members out of 355 were chosen as state executive members.
Returning officer the party Pratap Dev announced the name of BJD chief in a gathering. After the announcement, Patnaik said BJD fights election not for win rather for serving 4.5 crores of Odia people.
It is worth noting that Patnaik-led BJD has been in power for the last two decades out of which the first two terms came to power with the help of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the rest three times single-handedly.
