Mar. 14/2020 – With the nod of the central government, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) will set up 47 more posts and 12 staging camps to ensure enhanced security along the border with China, the Economic Times reported citing sources familiar to the development.
The recent approval allows ITBP to build strategic sector headquarter on the front, strengthen infrastructure and increase manpower along the China border, they said.
Earlier ITBP had requested the government to create more staging camps to curtail the distance between the border outposts which mostly experience hazards like very low temperatures and frequent blizzards, according to a home ministry official.
Now there are 180 border outposts along the Line of Actual Control and in each outpost there are around 100 soldiers, another official stated.
