Maharashtra to Shut Offices in Major Cities for Coronavirus


Mar. 20/2020 – Intending to take on Coronavirus, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray announced all the offices located in major cities in the state, including Mumbai, MMR Region, Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad and Nagpur, will remain shut till the end of the month effective from this Midnight.

The CM asked the people not to come out of their homes if the situation does not demand, which will curb the spread of the pandemic virus further. However, the government made it clear that the essential services and public transport will not be disrupted with the recent order.

The state has so far witnessed 52 confirmed Corona cases. The attendance in government workplaces will be brought down to 25% from the current 50% on rotation basis as per an earlier announcement, Thackeray stated. 

The Coronavirus has affected operations in at least 170 countries and taken over 7,000 lives altogether. Its origin country China successfully controlled the spread of the virus whereas the situation day by day becomes worsening in the rest of the world.
